NEET is the national entrance examination for the UG medical courses in India. It replaced the All India Pre-Medical Test, or AIPMT, and all state-level medical entrance exams. The test is conducted by the National Testing Agency, which provides the results to the Director General of Health Services, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. NEET has become an essential part of admission procedures for many medical schools in India. It is also required for medical students to apply for jobs in the government and private sector.

The National Entrance Examination for Medical Schools was first conducted in 1988. The aim of this examination was to provide equal opportunity for students across the country and ensure a uniform quality of medical education. It was designed as a standardized examination for students and reduced the burden of multiple entrance exams. The NEET syllabus is based on the National Curriculum Framework 2005, which covers subjects that students learn in Class 12th. The syllabus may differ from state to state.

The NEET exam replaced the AIPMT and state-level CETs. The exam consists of 180 multiple-choice questions that are grouped into two sections: section A and section B. Each question carries four answer choices, and test takers must mark the correct answer option on the OMR sheet. In addition, NEET also has a new paper pattern, which changed the way it is organized. This year, the exam was divided into two sections: Section A carried 35 questions and section B contained fifteen questions.
